Joey McNeill serves Pleasant View Baptist Church as our Interim Pastor. Born in Clinton, South Carolina, Joey brings more than 40 years of faithful pastoral and missionary experience to our congregation. Joey has served churches and mission fields across multiple states and countries, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to preaching God’s Word, shepherding God’s people, and strengthening the local church.
Joey began his ministry in 1981 at Flint Hill Baptist Church in Moneta, Virginia, where he served nearly six years. He then pastored Taylors Grove Baptist Church in Lancaster, South Carolina, for another six years before answering God’s call to international missions. From 1993 to 1998, Joey and his family served with the International Mission Board in Teresina, Piauí, Brazil, sharing the gospel and discipling new believers.
Upon returning to the United States, Joey became pastor of Fort Trial Baptist Church in Bassett, Virginia, where he faithfully served for more than 22 years until his retirement in 2021. In 2023, Joey graciously stepped into the role of Interim Pastor at Pleasant View, offering steady leadership, biblical preaching, and pastoral care after Rick Anderson, Pleasant View's former pastor of 25 years, unexpectedly passed away.
Joey’s ministry is shaped by strong theological training. He holds a Doctor of Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and studied Religion at Charleston Southern University.
Joey and his wife, Darlene are blessed with two daughters, five grandchildren, and one step‑grandchild, all of whom bring great joy to their lives. Their commitment to Christ and to His church continues to bless Pleasant View as Joey leads with a pastor’s heart and a servant’s spirit.
